Independent Schools of St. Louis, a non-profit professional association established
in 1972, includes 38 independently governed elementary and secondary schools
throughout the metropolitan St. Louis region. Each school undergoes a rigorous
examination process every seven years to procure and maintain accreditation.
Most member schools belong to the Independent Schools of the Central States (ISACS)
and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Schools that are members of Independent Schools of St. Louis provide a complete range of educational opportunities for students in kindergarten through grade 12. They include schools that focus on traditional models of excellence in education as well as special needs schools, which specialize in areas that include learning differences or emotional and behavioral problems. A number of schools are religiously affiliated. Contact: Genie Newport Executive Director, ISSL MISA Kansas City representative to MOCAPE 101 N.
